Real Estate Challenged...
That's what Michael and I are... real estate challenged. We couldn't get a house under contract if our lives depended on it. Our deadline passed and the only information our realtor could give us from the bank was that it could take another 30 days... "forget that" is what we said. Plus... when we made our offer, everything in the house was in good condition, but about two weeks later we drove by and noticed one of the front windows was cracked. We told our realtor we wanted to look at the house again and by the time we got inside, both of the front windows had cracks in three different panes. So we wrote up an addendum to our offer stating we wanted a professional to determine why the windows were cracking and we wanted the problem fixed and the windows replaced. Well, the owner of the home responded by writing a letter stating the home was being sold as is and that he would not be responsible for any repairs, but we could feel free to contact the contractor who built the house and see if he would warranty any of the work. Well, a call to the contractor brought the revelation that he is in bankruptcy and will not be fixing anything either. So you could say that bothered me a little. So... we let the offer lapse past the deadline which now means our offer is cancelled and we're back to square one again. Lovely. I think house hunting might have to wait until the end of fire season at this point. It's just too stressful to have the weight of big decisions on my shoulders and not even knowing if I'll be able to reach Michael... so that's the story.
