So today is the deadline day for our house offer. If we don't receive some kind of response from the bank by 5 PM Mountain Time today then our offer is null and void. Our agent is really wanting us to sign an extension for that date, but I don't think we will. We may make another offer, but it will be for less money than our original offer, and we won't be giving them as much time to sit on our offer either. A couple of other short sales in the same neighborhood recently were dropped in price, so I really think we can offer a little less. So that's the house update. I'll let you know if we hear anything this evening.
Michael has been over in the Escalante/Boulder area fighting fire again... since about Thursday afternoon. I hate it over there because the cell service is nonexistent to very spotty. The fire they were originally working on is contained, but they had some thunder storm cells go through the area yesterday with no moisture but plenty of lightning, so most of the day was spent doing initial attack on several new starts. He's thinking his helicopter may be released to come back to Cedar today or tomorrow, but there is also a chance of more dry lightning this afternoon... but regardless, he is in deperate need of days off... he's been going 21 days straight without a day off... and he will be heading back probably Tuesday afternoon or at the very latest Wednesday morning to take Thursday, Friday, and Saturday off and we will be going to Arizona for The 4th.
And... last of all... did you hear about the midair collision between two medical helicopters in Flagstaff on Sunday afternoon? I hate hearing about helicopter crashes and yet I get obsessed with finding out as much information about them as I can. One of the helicopters involved is owned by Classic Helicopters out of Woods Cross, UT which is the same company that provided the ship for Michael's fire contract in 2005. Three of the four people on board were killed, including the pilot, the medic, and the patient... the flight nurse was seriously injured. We don't know yet if the pilot was was the same that flew for Michael... the names haven't been released yet. The other helicopter involved had three people on board, the pilot the medic and a patient who were all killed. At least two paramedics on the ground were also injured in an explosion while trying to extricate the victims in one of the helicopters. Hearing news like this always gives me a firm push back into the reality of the dangers Michael faces in his job that I usually try not to think about too much. Keep him in your prayers... he's working awful hard.
